Ramlila is an enactment of Hindu epic-Ramayana. It covers the complete life, values, principles and journey of Lord Rama. Every episode of his life is enacted with lots of detailing, and is very informative.This is called as “Lila”.
Ramlila is such an event that till date it embodies and encapsulates Hindu tradition and ethics very well.
The life and values of Lord Rama is the best lesson to be learnt in one’s life and especially to Hindus, Ramlila remains the best visual treat and learning experiences in life.
It begins with “Ganesh Puja” on the first day of Navratri, and continues for 11 days. As many as 150 artists take part in the performance playing the respective roles from Ramayana. The 10th day is observed as ‘Dussehra’ (Vijay Dashmi) when effigies of Ravana, Meghnad & Kumbhkarn are burnt which symbolizes the triumph of Good over Evil.
Ramlila ends with “Bharat Milap” on the 11th day. Fifteen days prior to the commencement of Ramlila ‘Bhoomi Pujan takes place, after which a pandal is erected with Gates of decorated facades.
